What is Omega 3?
It is so easy to talk about the super powers of Omega 3 without delving into what Omega 3 actually is. We hear the name thrown around by health stores across the globe but do many of us know what it actually is?
Omega 3's are a family of essential, fatty acids that play important roles in your body. Like humans, dogs are incapable of producing Omega 3 themselves, therefore must gain it from their diets. The three most important types are Omega 3 are ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). ALA is mainly found in plants, while DHA and EPA occur mostly in animal foods and algae.
